So, if you're here, you probably know that I will be spending the '09-'10 school year as an exchange student in Pamplona, Spain. I'm so thankful to have this opportunity, and I can't wait to go!
School is almost out, and I have a fun summer ahead of me. I'm going to be volunteering at Riverbend, which is something I'm really excited for. I'm considering going into the medical profession, and what better way to get to know the workings of a hospital than to volunteer there? I will also be helping out with the Arts Umbrella Summer Camp (for the little kids), which should be really fun, too! Other than that, I plan to ride (horses) a ton, go camping, and just enjoy the time I have before I leave in September.
For those of you who don't know, Pamplona is in the North of Spain, about an hour from the France Border. The population there is about 195,000 people, with a metro population of about 319,000 people (compare to Eugene's Population of 154,000 people and a Metro population of about 343,000 people). So it is roughly the same size as Eugene. From what I've heard, the weather there is very similar to Eugene, and there is a lot of Rain.
My host family seems very nice. There's a mom, Elizabeth, and a dad, Tiberius, who dont speak any English, and a 9 year old Host sister named Lydia, who is SOOO cute!
I will be going to El Sagrado Corazon (Sacred Heart), a Catholic School. I am not sure if it is private, but I think so.
That's all for now!
Gwen
